Be the Change began at Maureen’s School of Dance, a family-owned studio with more than 50 years of history in the Hampton Roads community. Founded by Miss Maureen Hannah and now led by her daughter, Miss Michelle Council, MSOD has been a home to generations of dancers and families throughout the region. With a strong foundation in dance education, community, and family, MSOD provides the environment where Be the Change was first created—and where its mission continues to grow. What began as an initiative of the Spotlight Dance Team has grown into a program-wide effort centered on leadership, service, philanthropy, and using the art of dance to make a difference.
